Muay Thai, also known as Thai boxing, represents a traditional Thai martial art and a full-contact combat sport emphasizing stand-up striking, sweeps, and a range of clinching techniques. Dubbed the “Art of eight limbs,” Muay Thai distinguishes itself by incorporating the use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins in combat.

Its global proliferation gained momentum in the late 20th to 21st century, with Thai practitioners venturing into kickboxing and mixed-rules competitions worldwide, alongside matches governed by Muay Thai regulations. The professional league is overseen by The Professional Boxing Association of Thailand (P.A.T.), sanctioned by The Sports Authority of Thailand (S.A.T.).
